July has arrived even though it doesn’t feel like it. But with the arrival of the new month comes our new Pantry Item of the Month!!
For July we’re asking for donations of canned fruit and/or cups of fruit. We’ll gladly accept any brand or variety of fruit. Donate your favorite or whatever may be on sale. Either way we’re gonna put it to good use.
This month’s pantry item will be primarily used in our food bag program and at our next Community Grocery Giveaway taking place on August 13th. We try to make sure that each food bag has fruit included but we are often running low on these items.
To donate please drop off at our Administrative Office during business hours M-F. Our Admin Office is located opposite our Thrift Store on our central lot located at 215 W. Church St in Hagerstown. If you are unable to drop off during business hours please call us at 301.739.1165 or email email@example.com to arrange a time that works for you.

Happy Friday!! Got any big plans this weekend? Well, if your weekend consists of cleaning out your closets and making space on your shoe racks then we can help!
We’re happy to take your gently used clothing and shoes off your hands! Not only is your donation tax-deductible but it also helps to keep our doors open and operating every day of the year to help neighbors in need without any charge to them!
Proceeds generated from sales at our Thrift Stores in Hagerstown & Chambersburg help to fund the many programs and services we provide the community. In fact, since we opened our doors in May of 1955 we’ve never closed nor charged anyone for any service provided. And we’ve done it all without any tax money or government funding. So your donated articles of clothing and shoes are a lot more powerful than you may think!
AND those donated items could go to a neighbor in desperate need for absolutely free from our voucher program. Our voucher program helps individuals and families in need get the clothing, shoes, and coats necessary to go about their day. A voucher is given to a person who can then go to our Hagerstown Thrift Store and select the clothing items needed in their size and style – all for free!
So if your plans include cleaning out the closet and you’re not sure what to do with your items… think of us! Your donation is a great way to invest in your community.
Our Donation Center dock is open Mon, Tues, Thurs, and Fri from 9am – 4pm and Sat from 9am – 3pm. Our donation dock is closed Sunday & Wednesday and all major holidays. The dock is located at the rear of our central parking lot at 215 W. Church St in Hagerstown.
Thank you for caring & sharing with your community!
PS… wanna help out even more?? We’re always looking for volunteers to help in our Donation Center! We need people to help sort and price all the donated items. If you’re interested please call us at 301.739.1165 or email email@example.com.
We’re hosting another Community Grocery Giveaway on Friday, May 14th from 9am – 11am (or while supplies last). Our food giveaway is free for anyone and everyone in the community. You do not need a food bank card to participate.

In addition to the food items we’ll be giving out all sorts of personal care items like toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, shampoo, and more.
All of this is free but based on first-come-first-served. Bags will be provided but you may bring your own if you’d prefer.

It’s almost time for Washington County Gives 2021! Washington County Gives is a 24-hour day of online giving benefitting non-profits in Washington County.
From midnight until 11:59pm on Tuesday, May 11th, you can join other generous neighbors in supporting The Hope Center by giving online at washingtoncountygives.org.
This year we’re asking the community to support our major food services expansion and renovation project.
The expansion and renovation of our food services area is in full swing. In fact, at the end of April we were able to move into our brand new kitchen! The new kitchen will provide our food services staff and volunteers a much larger and more efficient space to prepare and serve multiple meals a day to our residents and community guests.
Now that the new kitchen is completed, the construction project has moved into the dining room where our old kitchen has been torn out and will become a part of a much larger dining room. This expanded dining room will allow us to seat twice the amount of people per meal.
In addition to the new kitchen and dining room, we’ve been able to have a brand new pantry which is 3x’s bigger than the previous pantry. This huge pantry will provide ample room for all the food we need to create meals and allow us more storage for our food bank program and community food giveaway events.
This is a much needed project as we have not made any major changes or improvements to our kitchen since moving into our building in the late 1950’s. This construction project will allow us to meet the current needs and also be prepared to better reach people in need in the future.
Please consider partnering with us to feed our community by donating a gift to us during Wsahington County Gives. To give during the event is quick and easy and will make a huge impact in our goal to end hunger and food insecurity.
You can donate to our cause any time on May 11th. We’ll provide a link from our Facebook page and also our website which will lead you directly to our WCG page to help make donating even quicker for you.
And please encourage your family, friends, church, coworkers, and social media followers to join you in giving to our construction project.
Spring is just a few days away! While all the snow this winter had its pretty moments, we’re definitely excited about seeing flowers and trees blooming and all the beautiful colors of spring.
And with the arrival of spring comes a favorite part of the season: spring cleaning! As you begin the process of cleaning out your house and even redecorating keep us in mind!
Your donation of gently used items like clothing, shoes, housewares, decorations, toys, books, accessories, craft items, linens, and furniture can become a huge asset to helping people in need in our community!
And right now our Thrift Stores are in need of furniture donations. If you are remodeling your house or just have gently used furniture to get rid of we’re happy to take it off your hands! And if you’re in the Hagerstown area we can even come and pick up your gently used furniture! To learn more about our furniture donation pick up or to schedule a time please call 301.739.1165.
Proceeds generated from sales in our two Thrift Stores (Hagerstown & Chambersburg) help to fund the many programs and services to neighbors in need for free. When you donate your items you are helping to give hope to thousands of people in our area!
And for neighbors who are in desperate need, your donated goods can be given for free in our voucher program. The voucher program helps individuals and families in dire need receive free clothing and more.
So as you clean out your closets, redecorate your living room, or go through the boxes in your basement think of how your items can provide hope for your community! To donate items please drop off at our donation drop dock at the back of our parking lot on 215 W. Church St in Hagerstown. Our Donation Center is open M-Sat from 9am – 4pm. To learn about donating gently used items please click here: In-kind Gifts | hagerstownhopecenter
