Support our Kitchen Expansion Project!

To learn about our expansion project and all things happening at The Hope Center please visit http://www.hagerstownhopecenter.com.

Our renovation & expansion project is moving right along! Thanks to some great weather this fall, and a great construction team, we are currently on schedule. The project will hopefully be completed by March 2021.

Once completed the expansion will give our kitchen staff & volunteers a bigger, more efficient kitchen to prepare and serve meals. It will also increase the seating capacity of our dining room allowing us to safely feed more people. And it will triple the size of our pantry allowing us more space to store food for our daily meals and our food bag program for the community.

We are currently raising support to repay the construction loans for this project. To learn more about our construction project and to donate please visit Online Giving | hagerstownhopecenter

Construction Continues at The Hope Center!

Things are moving right along with the expansion of our food services area. Crews have been working hard and taking advantage of the wonderful weather we’ve been blessed with.

On Friday the construction team poured the concrete for half of our expanded kitchen floor and for the lower level pantry expansion. Today the crew was back framing up the wood floorboards for the pantry ceiling/kitchen floor of the expansion project.

We are so thrilled with how quickly this much needed project is moving along! When you come through downtown Hagerstown on Franklin Street take a quick look at the project that’s easily visible looking up Prospect St. Or when you stop by for a shopping trip at our Thrift Store or drop off your gently used items take a moment to sneak a peek at the progress!

Follow us on Facebook to get the most up-to-date pics of the project and stay informed about the progress.

If you’re unaware of our expansion and renovation project then head to hagerstownhopecenter.com to learn more. At the bottom of our home page you’ll see a box with info and pics about this construction project.

Washington County Gives is Finally Here!

After being postponed in May due to COVID-19, we’re excited to announce that Washington County Gives is officially happening!

On Tuesday, September 22nd the internet will come alive with a 24-hour online giving event! Washington County Gives is a chance for local non-profits to raise valuable funding for the year to come.

And this is a big year for us. Not only is it our 65th anniversary but we’re also beginning a huge expansion and renovation of our food services area at The Hope Center!

Our kitchen, dining room, and pantry are all in desperate need of an update and expansion as the need to feed people in our area has grown significantly over time.

Our expanded food services area will feature a new, updated kitchen so our staff and volunteers can better prepare and serve food for a larger crowd. Our dining room will increase in size and layout to allow more people to dine and do so in a much more efficient manor. And our pantry will double in size to allow us more space to store food that is used for daily meals and our food bag program for people in need.

This expansion and renovation is a huge undertaking. And we need your help. Not only do we ask for you to give as you can to this project, we are also asking that you help us spread the word to your social media followers, friends, family, coworkers, church, civic clubs, neighbors and anyone else who will listen! The more people involved the faster we can get this project completed and paid for.

And this is where Washington County Gives is a huge benefit. We are asking you to donate during this special online giving event but also encouraging others to join you in giving. We’ll be posting on Facebook about Washington County Gives and we’re asking you to share our posts with your Facebook friends and inspire them to give as well.

Giving during WCG is simple and we’re helping to make it as easy as possible. To learn more about giving during the 24-hour event please visit https://www.hagerstownhopecenter.com/wcg

This designated page on our website will give you the quick link you need to find our giving page for donation. We’ll include links on our Facebook and other media posts to help make it easy for you and your friends to navigate and donate with ease.

Please mark your calendar for WCG on September 22nd and make a plan to help us promote our food services expansion project to the community. Together we are fighting to end hunger in Hagerstown and surrounding communities.

We’re here to provide help for today… hope for tomorrow!

2014 Year in Pictures: Part 2

This is the second part of a series of pictures celebrating all the people that God brought into The Hope Center in one way or another in 2014.

We appreciate, love, and value each of our guests, staff, donors, and volunteers so much! Thank you to each and every one of you who have partnered with us in 2014. Thank you for your prayers, financial support, volunteer hours, and all the food and gently used goods donated to help us fight against homelessness, hunger, addiction and hopelessness in the name of Christ.

Thank you for helping to make Hagerstown a better place!

Up on the Roof

The roof on our Hagerstown Thrift Store was in desperate need of repair and replacement.
This would have been quite a costly investment but fortunately God provided some wonderful volunteers to help fix our roof and cut the costs of this project!
We’re so thankful for the 40 volunteers who worked hard for more than 30 hours tearing off the old roof and putting the new on.

The volunteers were organized by Arnold Horst who was made aware of this need by our former store manager, AJ Imbach who went to Tri-state Fellowship with Arnold when AJ was employed with us.
The majority of volunteers came from Tri-state Fellowship, including the wonderful volunteers who made sure there was plenty of food & drink for our roofers. In addition to the folks from Tri-state Fellowship we had a former Hope Center resident and his parents volunteer, as well as two current residents in our Foundations Life Recovery program.

Our Hagerstown Thrift Store is a rather long building and replacing the roof was definitely not an easy task. These volunteers worked very efficiently and worked so well together that the project got finished quickly.

We really appreciate Arnold Horst for having a heart for this ministry and for taking the time to help organize the volunteers to complete this project. Thanks to these great volunteers we were able to save money that can be used in other areas to help feed families, provide shelter for the homeless and give kids the opportunity to learn about Christ in a safe environment.

While it may just seem that these volunteers replaced a roof, but to someone in need they made a difference for eternity and only God knows the full impact of their volunteer service to The Hope Center.
Volunteers, thank you so much for giving your time and energy to help improve the quality of our facilities!
