Give Hope… and Pancakes!

It’s a new month so we have a new Pantry Item of the Month!

This January we’re asking for donations of pancake mix & syrup. We’ll gladly accept any brand, flavor, or size – including bulk size – of mix & syrup.

During these cold winter months a delicious pancake breakfast for our residents & guests is always welcomed! And we’ll share these items with our neighbors in need when they come for food bags this winter season.

To donate in person please drop off items to our Administrative Office (parking lot located at 215 W. Church St) during business hours M-F from 8:15am – 4pm (office is closed 11:30am – 12:15pm for lunch). If those hours don’t work for you then please call us at 301.739.1165 or email info@hagerstownhopecenter.com to schedule a time that suits.

If you’re shopping from your favorite online retailer please use 125 N. Prospect St, Hagerstown, MD 21740 as our delivery address. And remember, when you shop at Amazon use AmazonSmile (smile.amazon.com) and select ‘The Hope Center at Hagerstown Rescue Mission’ as your charitable organization. Amazon will donate a portion of your order to our organization!

Brownsville Serves Some Breakfast!

On June 24, the kind folks at Brownsville Church of the Brethren invited the residents of The Hope Center to attend the 8:30am contemporary service at the church.

Following the morning worship service, the men enjoyed a delicious home-cooked breakfast at the church.

Brownsville has always been very generous and kind to the residents at The Hope Center. They invite our guys to attend services and meals twice every year. In addition, they also come several times during the year to The Hope Center to host the evening chapel service and prepare and serve meals for our residents and community guests.

We appreciate the kindness and hospitality of the people at Brownsville Church of the Brethren. If you are looking for a great church to attend then why not check out Brownsville? The church is located at 1911 Rohrersville Road, Brownsville, MD.

For more info about the church, including worship service times and other contact info go to www.brownsvillecob.org.

Who Wants Breakfast…for Dinner?

It’s a well-known fact that eating breakfast for dinner is something that everyone loves!

On Monday, May 7, Girl Scout troop #40600 came to The Hope Center and made breakfast for dinner for our residents and evening guests!

9 girls and 3 leaders participated in the evening dinner. The girls helped in the preparation of the food and serving of the meal. For their participation in this event, the girls received the silver award!

The delicious breakfast meal included scrambled eggs, sausage, pancakes, orange juice and coffee. With the guidance of some adult leaders, the girls successfully cooked this breakfast!

We’re glad that this fine group of young ladies stopped by to help feed the hungry. And we’re pretty sure that everyone enjoyed the meal!

This is not the first time this Girl Scout troop has served at The Hope Center. Past meals have included lasagna and soups & sandwiches.

The Girl Scouts, who meet at the Downsville Ruritan, are compiling a cookbook for The Hope Center with recipe ideas including meals they have prepared for The Hope Center.

We are so thankful that this great group of Girl Scouts has been so faithful in helping to feed the hungry in Hagerstown!
