Happy, Happy Birthday!!

Join us in wishing Dustin & Albert HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Dustin celebrated his birthday in July and Albert just celebrated his this week. Both men are in our Foundations Life Recovery Program. Each month we celebrate the birthdays of the men in our residential program – and of course we have cake! Our good friend Stormy bakes birthday cakes each month for our residents!

Dustin joined our Foundations program in January of this year. While here he made a profession of Christ in his life and is seeking to make positive changes in his life that will help him once he leaves the program. He is about halfway through the Foundations program so please continue to pray for him in his journey as he grows and faces the challenge of confronting the various things that have caused problems in his life.

Albert joined Foundations in September of 2017 after being released into our facility from prison. While in prison he made a profession of Christ which is what lead him to apply to our Foundations program at his release. He wanted a safe, Christian environment to help him grow and change his life patterns and to be in a place where he can build a positive bridge into his future. He quickly joined a local church in Hagerstown and has continued to grow spiritually which has helped him develop great relationships with others. He is very close to graduating from Foundations so continue to keep praying for Albert that he finishes strong and has the confidence to go boldly into his new life without fear. He’s excited about his opportunity to share his new life with others in the community who need to hear about the power of Christ just like he did.

Please continue to pray for all of the men who come in and out of our Foundations Life Recovery Program. It’s not easy for guys to acknowledge that they need to join the program and make necessary changes in their lives and it’s even harder for them to continue once they join. These men are facing serious challenges in their lives and they need all the prayer and support possible. Please continue to invest in their lives through prayer, volunteering, and donating to The Hope Center. Your donation of food, used clothing, shoes, housewares, furniture, etc, and your donation of time serving food, hosting a chapel service, painting or doing anything at The Hope Center are all part of helping these men rehabilitate their lives and giving them the recovery and victory they so desperately want and need. Your support truly does make a difference and God uses it to help them move forward in the face of personal issues. Thank you for helping us celebrate these men and their birthdays.

Happy Birthday!

Each month we celebrate the birthday of any resident currently in our Foundations Life Recovery program.

In January we were happy to celebrate with Anthony “Tony” Ryan and Devin Scott.

January 2013 birthdays 2

Tony was here once before but he left the program thinking he was ready to make it on his own.  When he went back to his old habits he knew he needed help.  He enrolled into the program again in October 2012.  He hopes to finish well this time.

Devin Scott came into the program in November 2012.  Devin is the son of Kevin Scott who recently graduated from the program and continues to work here in food services.

We want to thank our friend, Stormy, for baking another delicious cake for our birthday guys!

January 2013 birthdays

Please pray for Tony & Devin as they work to conquer their addictions and strive to be the Godly men that they were created to be. Also, keep all of our residents and graduates in your prayers. This path to redemption is not easy for many of the guys that join the program. There are a lot of temptations to deal with and a lot of struggles for each man to overcome. Please continue to lift these guys up in prayer. Pray for power to overcome and the perseverance to continue to the end. Pray for the staff that are helping to guide these men.

Thank you for partnering with us to help bring the hope of Christ to people in need. It’s important to the well-being of the men in the program to know that there are caring people that are supporting them through this time of change in their lives. We appreciate all that you do to help bring hope to Hagerstown!

Happy Birthday, Anthony!

It’s a new month which means it’s time for a party!

The first Friday of each month is Birthday Day at the Hope Center. This month we only have one resident celebrating. Anthony Derosa, a new resident, is celebrating his 27th birthday with us this month.

Since it’s March, the birthday cake was Irish-inspired which was something that the men enjoyed!

As with every resident who celebrates a birthday, Anthony gave his testimony about how he had been using cocaine and wasting his life until one day he realized that he needed a change. He quickly left his home in Montgomery County, MD and went to live with his mom in Connecticut.

Understanding that he needed real help to conquer his addictions, his mother and his parole officer got him in touch with Teen Challenge.

It was at Teen Challenge that he knew he needed to return to Maryland but his desire was not to end up back on the street or to return to the same life he had before. Teen Challenge contacted the staff of the Hope Center and everything was worked out for his entry into the program.

He’s only been a resident at the Hope Center for a few weeks but Anthony has quickly found his place and feels at home in the program. He’s thankful for a safe, positive place like the Hope Center to help him not only clean up his life but create a new life in Christ.

He can happily celebrate this birthday knowing that he’s on the path to a drug free future! Please continue to pray for Anthony and all the men who take that first step to break their addictions. It’s not an easy fight but knowing that the community is praying for them and supporting them is so important! Thank you for being a part of this ministry!

Join us in wishing Anthony a very ‘Happy Birthday’ and many more to come!

Thanks to our good friend Stormy for baking and decorating another delicious birthday cake!
