June Updates and Reopenings!

Happy June! With the arrival of this new month comes the reopening of our Chambersburg Thrift Store!

Our Chambersburg Thrift Store is located at 64 S. Main St and is now open Mon – Sat 9am COVID re THRIFT HOURS Cburg-001– 3:30pm. Like our Hagerstown location, our Chambersburg store is open at 50% capacity and masks must be worn in the store. At this time the Chambersburg Thrift Store can not accept any donations. If you’d like to donate your gently used items please bring them to our donation drop dock located in our central parking lot at 215 W. Church Street in Hagerstown. In addition to our Chambersburg Thrift Store reopening we’re happy to announce that our Hagerstown Thrift Store hours have changed! Our Hagerstown location is now open Mon – Sat 9am – 4pm. If you have any questions about our Thrift Store please call us at 301.739.1114.

Also, we’re currently hiring! We’re in the process of hiring a part-time truck driver. The Truck Driver 1-001truck driver must have a clean driving record and also be able to carry potentially heavy items at times. If you’d like to apply please send your resume to P.O. Volunteers Needed!

We’re currently looking for some men who could volunteer at least 4 hours per week to work the desk in our check-in office in the men’s ministry building at The Hope Center in Hagerstown.

We are hoping to find volunteers who could man the desk from 8:30am-12:30pm or 12:30pm-4:30pm one day each week, Monday through Friday. If you are able to give more than 4 hours each day or would like to give 4 hours on multiple days a week then we’d greatly appreciate it!

The main responsibilities of the check-in desk is simply to help monitor everyone coming in and going out of the building and receiving any calls transferred to the check-in office.

This is a wonderful opportunity for any retired men in the area to serve the Lord and help make a difference in the lives of so many men in need. A kind, smiling face at the check-in desk can be the first step in leading someone to the Lord and changing their life for eternity!

now-hiringWe are currently hiring a manager for our Thrift Stores in Hagerstown & Chambersburg. Please read through the job description & qualifications. If you are interested in the position please contact us immediately. Contact information is located at the bottom of this post.

This position is full-time, 40 hours a week, Monday – Saturday. There are no evening hours or Sunday hours.

Purpose and responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Manage, monitor and evaluate the daily operations of the Hagerstown and Chambersburg Thrift Stores
  • Ensure compliance with established policies and procedures
  • Ensure a reasonable financial return on store items
  • Ensure donated items are displayed so they are attractive, neat and orderly
  • Manage and serve as lead worker to subordinate store personnel and volunteers
  • Ensure accountability and security of all store items and funds (including credit information)
  • Plan, supervise and participate in the layout and display of store merchandise

Qualifications:

  • Must be born again believer in Jesus Christ and maintain a lifestyle above reproach
  • Must have 2 years experience in retail management and merchandising (Thrift Store experience preferred)
  • Must have at least 1 year supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of retail store management
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of effective customer relations
  • Ability to evaluate overall store operations in order to detect deficiencies and implement appropriate corrective action
  • Must have experience with credit card transactions, the operation of cash registers and excellence in handling money
  • Must be a person of integrity, good character and discreet
  • Must agree with Four States Christian Missions, Inc. statement of faith

Now Hiring – Food Services Manager

We are currently looking for a new food services manager. If you or someone you know are looking for a job, and an excellent way of serving the Lord, then keep reading.

The position of Food Services Manager is a part-time position which is about 25-30 hours per week. Usually no weekend work is required.

Experience in food service management is required. Food Services Manager will be working hands-on with some of the men in our residential program so this person must have supervisory skills and be able to lead, direct and motivate the program men assigned to kitchen duty. Also, we are looking for someone who is a good cook, innovative, and able to teach and supervise others how to cook.

Since we are a faith-based organization we ask that each applicant agree with our Statement of Faith (our code of beliefs) and be able to provide their testimony of their faith in Jesus as well as adhere to Christian conduct.

This job is perfect for retired cooks, chefs or kitchen staff. It’s also perfect for anyone who loves cooking and really wants to make a difference for Christ in the daily lives of people. It’s a wonderful opportunity to serve the Lord by preparing meals for residents and daily guests. The Food Services Manager is able to build strong relationships with the residents who work in our kitchen. If you think that you would be perfect for this position, please read through the job purpose and responsibilities.

Purpose:  To oversee daily operations of kitchen including program residents and all volunteers assigned to kitchen duty.  The kitchen, dining area, freezers, refrigerators and food pantries are to be maintained in a Christ-honoring manner (clean and neatly organized) with diligence given to using all the food resources that God provides to the Mission without waste, spoilage or theft.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Set up weekly menus for all meals utilizing all available food resources
  • Supervise and maintain cleanliness of kitchen and dining area
  • Keep detailed record of all food donations
  • Insure all Health Department requirements are met on a daily basis
  • Insure all food items are sorted, properly stored and quickly used or frozen to prevent loss.
