On July 9th, Camp Wild begins with a bang! That day will kick off the first of four action-packed weeks of day camp for hundreds of inner-city kids in Hagerstown!
Each day is filled with fun activities from the morning at our multi-purpose facility where the kids will play games, sing songs, learn about Jesus, bond with counselors during small group time and eat a delicious lunch. In the afternoon the kids are transferred to our outdoor facility located on the Conococheague Creek in Cearfoss. Outdoor activities include swimming, hayrides, a zip line, nature trails, art projects, African learning stations like Matu where the kids can experience African foods and Kijiji where our young explorers learn about life in an African village!
There is a lot work and planning that goes into such an elaborate and exciting program. And there are a lot of expenses that are involved also. To make it possible to reach so many kids for Christ, we keep the program free. So any financial help from the community is a major blessing!
If you’d like to donate to Camp Wild contact our office at 301.739.1165 or email@example.com. You can also donate via paypal. Just jump over to www.hagerstownrescue.org and click on the link “give to HRM” in the red box on the lefthand side of the site.
If you’d like to do something more than just giving money, you can purchase gift cards to stores like Walmart, Home Depot or Lowes, or purchase cards for use at gas stations like AC&T or Sheetz. Since we provide free transportation for campers in Hagerstown, the high gas prices can quickly devour our budget!
We are also looking for people who are qualified to drive a bus for transportation of children. Faith Christian Fellowship in Williamsport has generously offered their bus for use to transport campers for Camp Wild. We are looking for people who are able to drive in the morning, mid-day and afternoon. If you, or someone you know, are able and available, please give us a call or an email to get the process started.
Also, you can donate snack items for campers and counselors. Here is a list of some food related items that we use at Camp Wild:
20oz bottles of Gatorade or Powerade
Hersheys Chocolate Bars (1.55 oz)
Packs of Twizzlers (2.5 oz)
Bags of Potato Chips (1 oz)
Cans of Sprite
Little Hugs juice drinks
When you donate money for Camp Wild, any money that is not used will go into the General Fund of The Hope Center at Hagerstown Rescue Mission to help feed the hungry, house the homeless and meet the needs of families and individuals in need throughout the year. Thank you for caring for those in need and partnering with us to help make a difference in Hagerstown and restore hope to so many!
