Since 1955, the Hope Center has been cooking a delicious Thanksgiving lunch for anyone that wants a good meal that day. While the number of Thanksgiving guests has greatly increased over the years, the great food and good company has remained the same.

This year we’ll have volunteers from all over the region join us in helping to make Thanksgiving Day special for all of the guests that come through the doors. From serving drinks to cutting bananas to cleaning up the building, our volunteers help make this day a success.

But the big star of the day is definitely the buffet itself! We have a feast ready to feed an army! Currently we’re roasting 300lbs of turkey (that’s 18 turkeys if you’re curious!). From dark to white meat, there’s plenty of America’s favorite holiday bird to go around. Of course, in addition to the turkey, there will be plenty of mashed potatoes & gravy, sweet potatoes, succotash, sauerkraut, cranberry sauce, fruit cocktail and a great assortment of delicious pies. But there is one special item that could very well be a Thanksgiving star, so delicious that it could rival the popularity of the turkey. I’m talking about Carl’s secret stuffing! Each year Carl Black would make plenty of his secret recipe stuffing for the crowds to enjoy. And his tradition is still alive and well as his wife, Dorcas, continues to keep the masses happy with this special Thanksgiving staple.

Just reading about all this food is making you hungry, isn’t it? Well, our Thanksgiving Feast is free to anyone in the public. If you or someone you know needs a good meal on Thanksgiving Day or are just looking for somewhere to go to mingle and celebrate with others, then join us at 11:30 at the Trinity Center (Walnut St between Franklin & Church).

There will also be kids activities hosted by Wildside Kids that day. If you have kids or know of people with kids, invite them to join us as well. The kids activities begin at 11am on Thanksgiving Day in the Trinity Center.
